01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

La Selva Oscura is a charming Italian restaurant nestled in the scenic valley of Frazione Trappa, just off Via Nazionale. Revered for its hearty, authentic Piedmontese cuisine, this eatery invites diners to indulge in thoughtfully prepared dishes that celebrate local flavors and ingredients. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the tagliolini with porcini mushrooms—an indulgent, richly aromatic dish that captures the essence of the surrounding forest. Generous portions paired with impeccably cooked components make every bite a delight. Guests also rave about the crispy porcini fritti and the exquisite selection of local cheeses and cured meats, making La Selva Oscura a haven for lovers of traditional Italian gastronomy.

The atmosphere here is warm and welcoming, ideal for families and intimate gatherings alike. Owner hospitality adds a personal touch, creating a relaxed setting where you feel genuinely cared for. The new location—relocated from Il Castello in Garessio—boasts ample parking and a cozy, rustic interior that mirrors the enchanting natural landscape outside. Whether you arrive for a casual lunch or a leisurely dinner, the kindness of the staff and the attentive service lend a comforting, homey vibe throughout your meal.

Drawing on glowing customer testimonials, one is struck by how consistently La Selva Oscura impresses with both food quality and value. As one delighted patron remarked, the porcini are cooked "to perfection," brimming with earthy flavor, while another shared their appreciation for the traditional vitello tonnato and mixed platters of salumi and cheeses. It is clear that here, culinary passion and genuine warmth converge to make every dining experience memorable.

For those eager to immerse themselves in authentic Italian flavors, with an emphasis on regional delicacies served in generous portions and accompanied by courteous service, La Selva Oscura is an absolute must-visit. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of the rich culinary heritage of the Piedmont area set against one of Italy’s most picturesque backdrops.

A warm welcome is offered in the new premises (previously at Il Castello at Garessio). As always, the food is excellent, very large portions, and most reasonably priced. The tagliolini with porcini were particularly delicious. P. S. Plenty of parking spaces available.

L'invito in strada recitava: Funghi porcini fritti o con tagliolini. Effettivamente mi è stato servito un piatto di tagliolini ricchissimo di porcini cucinati a puntino. Ottimo.

Ci siamo fermati a pranzo e abbiamo voluto gustare piatti tipici.

Ottimo pane all'acqua e tiramisù. Formaggi locali, caffè denso...torte d pasticceria. Patatine fritte piccole! Ormeasco leggeretto e vini in bottiglia

Fresh delicious light food, warm beautiful atmosphere, lovely kind knowledgeable service. Strongly recommend the grilled fish platter, the grilled vegetables, and the local wine (extremely difficult to find), only sold by the bottle "Ormeasco". Finally, they're authentic cuisine and extremely fresh ingredients make for the ultimate fine dining experience at an incredibly reasonable value price.

Cibo molto buono nel complesso. Polpo e funghi porcini fritti davvero squisiti e freschi. Servizio leggermente da migliorare ma nel complesso se fossi in zona ci tornerei. Dolci top!
